Please Don’t Go

March 5th, 2010

I have completely ignored this. If it’s any consolation, may other things went way side with it. In leu of a proper post, I give you this gem that sums up a number of things quite nicely.

I miss Jer

Let It Die by Feist

“I will let others try to amass nine, ten or eleven figure net worths. Meanwhile, their lives suck. Appointments back to back, booked solid for the next three months, they look forward to their two week vacation in January during which they will likely be glued to their Blackberries or other such devices. What is the point? They will all be forgotten in fifty years anyway. Steve Balmer, Steven Cohen, and Larry Ellison will all be forgotten. I do not understand the legacy thing. Nearly everyone will be forgotten. Give up on leaving your mark. Throw the Blackberry away and enjoy life.”
- Hedge Fund Manager: Goodbye

“Remarkably, it seems that the secret to long-term happiness in a relationship is to skip a first relationship. In an ideal world you would wake up already in your second relationship. If you had a passionate first relationship and allow that feeling to become your benchmark, it becomes inevitable that future, more adult partnerships will seem boring and a disappointment.”
- Why you SHOULD forget your first love

“If you can’t be happy there how will you ever be happy? It’s supposed to be the ultimate font of technical resources, so if you can’t be productive there how will you ever be productive?”

M.I.A. and Bacon

August 11th, 2008

M.I.A.’s Paper Planes is officially the summer anthem of 2008. From the very first play on Dave’s iPod as we crossed Newfoundland, to the trailer for The Pineapple Express — which is still very high (no pun intended) on my must watch list — to playing it almost on repeat on the boat at the lake on these dog days of summer (Mixed in with this)

Also for your consideration – Sean’s Theory of Baconation

Sean’s Theory of Baconation states that the addition of bacon to any meal results in the creation of a more enjoyable meal.

Discuss.

A moment in the mind of Sean

Here’s a great example of how my twisted mind works:

I see this headline, Michael Bay singlehandedly wins the HD format war.

I immediately go to Google and search for a “Fuck Micheal Bay” T-shirt. No luck.

I should get myself a silk screen.

In other news, I take flight to the Dominican on Tuesday. Barring any interesting events over the weekend, I believe this might be the last you’ll hear from me. Wicked ominous.

Fun Fact!

Besides my name, the combinations of “Emily Haines” and “Bitch” are the most popular search keywords that send people to my site! It must be true!

That's Duncan

I don’t think I give Duncan enough credit for his self-loathing in the face of mass celebration.

John Hodgman of The Daily Show and “I’m a PC” fame, wrote a book called “The Areas of My Expertise” which I have heard great things about but never aquired a copy myself. But today (and possibly today only) the audiobook is available for free on the iTunes Music Store. Warning: You’ll need to set up an account in order to download it.
